Post-Conference Tour (Nov. 20-22, 2008)    [City-Tour]    (Registration Closed!)

In addition to the conference, purposed delegates will spend three days (Nov. 20-22, 2008) taking tours around the middle and south Taiwan. The tour is designed to include environmental science-related sites seeing and tourist highlights. If you would like to participate in this trip, please make your applications before Sep. 30, 2008.

Only 40 (maximum) tourists are allowed to participate this tour. Early applications are recommended for confirmation possibility. Tour fees of over-applications will not be charged.

Time and place of departure: AM 7:00, Leader Hotel (near GIS Convention Center).

Return: PM 08:00; Nov, 22, 2008; parking lot of Leader Hotel.

Duration of tour: 3 days

Itinerary

Day 1, Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008

Departure: AM 7:00, Leader Hotel (near GIS Convention Center).

Site A. Jung-Li Industrial Contaminated site – Cd and Pb contaminated site (~100 ha), Taoyuan County.

Stop 1. Sanyi Wood Sculpture Museum (traditional culture) - The tradition of Taiwan wood sculpture derived from the same origins as the Fujianese and Cantonese during the dynasties of Ming and Ching.

Stop 2. Puli Brewery, Taiwan Tobacco & Liquor Corporation, Nantou County.

Lunch: Ita Thao Lakeside (traditional food of Thao clan with aboriginal performance).

Stop 3. Sun Moon Lakeside trail by cruise ship. Sun Moon Lake Scenic Area, Nantou County.

Stop 4. Sun Moon Lake Wenwu Temple, Sun Moon Lake Scenic Area, Nantou County.

Stop 5. Bridge “Everlasting Like Sky” and bridge “Enduring Like Earth”, Chia-Yi County.

Stop 6. Alishan National Scenic Area (Alpine Forest Ecosystem), Chia-Yi County.

Dinner: Gau Shan Ching Hotel Restaurant (traditional Taiwanese food), Chia-Yi County.

Accommodation: Gau Shan Ching Hotel, Chia-Yi County.

 

Day 2, Friday, Nov. 21, 2008

Stop 7. Sunrise Viewing at Alishan.

Breakfast: Gau Shan Ching Hotel.

Stop 8. Tataka Visitor Center, Yushan National Park, Nantou County.

Lunch: Chen Pei Ping Restaurant (traditional Beijing food), Chia-Yi City.

Site B. China Petrochemical Development Corporation An-Shun Site – Mercury, PCP, and Dioxin contaminated site.

Stop 9. Fo Guan Shan Monastery, Kaohsiung County – a sacred place for Buddhist.

Dinner: Restaurant "Yellow Crane" (traditional southern Chinese food), Kaohsiung City

Accommodation: Hotel Holiday Garden, Kaohsiung City.

 

Day 3, Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008

Breakfast: Hotel Holiday Garden, Kaohsiung City.

Stop 10. The British Consulate at Dakao, Hsitzuwan Bay, Kaohsiung City.

Stop 11. Cijin Peninsula Ecological Park, Kaohsiung City (by cruise ship).

Lunch: Cijin Heineken Restaurant (seafood), Kaohsiung City.

Site C. CPC Refinery, Kaohsiung City- Petroleum contaminated site.

Dinner: Hong Zao Sue Fu Restaurant (original meals), Miaoli County.

Back to Taipei: PM 8:00~9:00.
